Der Druckkopf ist ein kleines Rechteck, auf dem die Zeichen angeordnet sind. Jedes Zeichen lässt sich aus dem Rechteck heraus nach vorne bewegen. Während des Druckvorgangs schlägt der gegenüberliegende Hammer von hinten gegen ein einzelnes Zeichen. Dieses wird gegen das Farbband und dann auf das Papier gedrückt.
