Der Freischwinger-Sessel wurde 1930 entworfen von Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1930) für die Villa Tugendhat in Brünn (Brno). Das auch MR-Sessel genannte Sitzmöbel besitzt ein Gestell aus nahtlos geformtem Rundstahl mit einer Sitzfläche und einer Rückenlehne aus gepolstertem Leder. Eine neue Auflage des Sessels wurde ab 1960 als Brno-Sessel Modell Nr. 255 gefertigt und eine weitere ab 1977 unter der neuen Bezeichnung MR-Sessel Nr. 254A. Der im Lippischen Landesmuseum ausgestellte Sessel ist ein Nachbau der Firma Knoll International aus der Zeit um 1999.
